Exactly what are hormones and how do they work?
They are chemical materials produced in the body which carry out important functions.
Different parts of the body make hormones
They could be from special organs called glands or other organs that have additional jobs to do in the body.

However, the usual centre directing the activity of a hormone is located in the brain.
